Hawkeye includes advanced technologies to analyze the bits and bytes of video to determine what is actually happening.  Unique to Hawkeye is the software’s ability to determine if a customer is present during a transaction.  Why?  Because refund fraud involves a store employee processing a illegitimate refund without a customer.

In addition to 42 other KPIs, Hawkeye is able to identify whether a customer is present. In addition, its not enough to look at whether a customer is present for an entire transaction.  Hawkeye identifies when the customer is not present:

  • Only at the beginning of the transaction:  Indicates that an associate started a fraudulent refund and an unrelated customer appears midway through
  • Only at the end of the transaction:  Indicates that an associate may be voiding or refunding a transaction to pocket the customer’s money
  • For the entire transaction:  Indicates a high probability of an associate committing fraud

video analytics - human presenceEXAMPLE:  In New York City, cigarettes are $9.99 a pack.  in cases where the cashier is committing fraud, they will often void the cigarette purchase AFTER the customer has paid and walked out.  Hawkeye easily identifies these types of transactions using human presence analysis of voided transactions.
